Organization of Student Clubs

Students at Snow Canyon Middle School are encouraged to be involved in school sponsored clubs and activities. The organization of new clubs is encouraged, providing their goals and objectives are not in conflict with school board policy, or local, state, and federal law. In order for students to charter a new club at SCMS, they must follow District Policy 3640. This policy can be found at the following link:

The fees for school clubs shall not exceed $15.00 as per district policy 3400: Section 3.7.13.

Pursuant to District Policy 3400 Section 3.2.2: All clubs must renew their application and obtain administrative approval annually on or before the anniversary of their original charter.

Application Deadlines: In order to initiate or renew a school or student club, an application must be completed and submitted to school administration for approval by April 15 to be considered for a first semester charter for the following 2010-2011 school year.

Builders Club

More than 1,200 clubs serving their communities

Builders Club is the largest service organization for middle school and junior high students, with more than 40,000 members worldwide.

Motto: Building leaders

Vision: To develop competent, capable, caring leaders through the vehicle of service.

Mission: Builders Club is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership.

Core values:

Character building: The ability to the right thing, even when it might be the unpopular choice.
Leadership: The ability to listen, communicate, serve, and guide others.
Inclusiveness: Accepting and welcoming differences in other people.
Caring: The act of being concerned about or interested in other people or situations.
Color Guard- The SCMS Color Guard if open to any girl who wishes to participate. This group performs with the SCMS Marching Band. Spots are auditioned for each parade and practices are held after school for about an hour three days a week or as needed in the Fall. This group forms the core of the Winter Guard which continues into the school year. Winter Guard uses a variety of equipment and dance moves to create their routines. Winter Guard performs at assemblies and may also join in competitions.
