VISION  STATEMENT

Different students require different approaches to learning.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Snow Canyon Middle School Media Center is to teach students to be effective users of information and to encourage and prepare students to be life-long learners.  This mission is accomplished by:

  • Providing instruction in information literacy  
  • Providing intellectual and physical access to informational materials in a variety of formats and media. 
  • Promoting interest in reading and teaching students to find and use information and ideas.
  • Working with teachers to develop educational strategies to meet the information needs of students

BOOK CHECKOUT POLICY:

Student ID card   A Student ID card is required to check out a book.  A replacement ID can be purchased in the office for $5.00.  Bring the receipt to the media center and a new ID will be printed.  

Loan Period   Two books may be checked out a time.  Each checkout will be for two week lending period.

Renewals   A book may be renewed for an additional two weeks, if it is not on hold for someone else.

Overdue Fines   Each book not returned in two weeks will be assessed an overdue fine of .05 per day up to $3.00 where it will be marked lost.  Reminder emails will be sent weekly as well as physical notes sent to homeroom.

Lost Books  Lost books will be fined the cost of the book plus processing/replacement fees.

Damaged Books   Damaged Books will be assessed a fine according to the damage of the book.

Reserves/Holds   Materials checked out to other patrons may be placed on hold and a note will be sent to you letting you know when the book has been returned so that you may check it out.

OTHER INFORMATION:

Media Center is open at lunch.

No Food or Drink allowed in the media center.

Keep you hands to yourself.

Clean up after yourself.
